Spices: ABC Chef’s First Giveaway!

Okay, let’s do something fun and see who reads my blog……

My spices drawer is a crazy crazy mess! Tim is currently in Montreal, so I figured I would do some spice drawer organizing (because that’s what all wives do when their husbands are at work conferences, right…?)

I’m giving away 1 ounce of Sichuan peppercorns, so you can make tasty dishes like Mapo Tofu and Beef Noodle Soup to your heart’s content.

1) If you win, I will need your mailing address for shipping. Sorry, I can only ship to contiguous US states (that is, no Hawaii and no Alaska), but you are more than welcome to participate in the commenting anyway!
2) What is/are your favorite spice(s), and your favorite dish(es) to use it/them in? Leave a comment and answer these 2 questions.
3) One entry per person. Multiple entries will be disqualified, as well as commenters who don’t follow directions!
4) Your comment must appear by 11:59 PM (EDT), Sunday, April 12, 2015.
5) One winner will be selected at random and announced on Monday, April 13, 2015 (evening).

Enjoy!

  1. My favorite spice is cinnamon! I put it in almost every sweet treat I make, from baked goods to oatmeal to apple slices. I don't drink coffee, but if I did, I think I'd put cinnamon in that too.
Fun fact: Cinnamon can lower your blood sugar and your cholesterol and reducing inflammation 🙂

  2. Sean and I love using smoked paprika on roasted chicken 🙂 Unfortunately, Costco stopped carrying it (they only have "Sriracha Spice") and it's really expensive otherwise 🙁

    • That sounds great! I must confess I haven't paid much attention to paprika other than in chicken paprikash and deviled eggs, but now I want to try my non-smoked paprika on roasted chicken. myspicesage.com is a website I like for spices- free shipping is the best!

  3. My favorite spices are garlic powder and cayenne pepper. I use garlic powder on a lot of my dishes and cayenne pepper helps add extra flavor to certain dishes. I also love to keep red chili pepper flakes handy as they give dishes like pasta a little kick.

  4. White pepper! I love to use it in soups 🙂
Also, cinnamon! For apple pies, and apple crisps 😛

    • White pepper in soups! Sounds classy. I use white pepper mostly in Chinese/Taiwanese cooking, so I'll have to remember to use white pepper instead of black pepper in my soups sometime.

  5. My favorite spice is lawry's salt because I like to put it in steaks; Also, I like garlic powder in mashed potatoes with bacon!
